March Board Meeting

  • Pacific Coast Salmon Coalition 71 Spartan Avenue Forks, WA, 98331 United States (map)

This month we welcome Emily Gardner from Washington Department of Natural Resources to speak with us about monitoring our creeks!

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources monitors riparian and salmonid conditions and employs novel riparian and forest research across the Olympic Experimental State Forest. This talk will give a brief overview of the various sampling methods used and recorded metrics for salmonid and habitat monitoring, along with a status update of the Type 3 Watershed Experiment, a 20,000-acre study exploring novel approaches to forest management.

Emily Gardner started with the Washington DNR in 2021 as a fisheries technician in the OESF and is now a Consulting Forester and the Implementation Coordinator for the Type 3 Watershed Experiment. She works to support various aspects of state lands management, primarily focused on old growth assessments. As the T3 Implementation Coordinator, she works as a liaison between foresters, loggers, and researchers to successfully implement novel research prescriptions.

Monthly board meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of each month at 5pm, in person at 71 N Spartan Ave. in Forks and virtually via Zoom. https://us06web.zoom.us/j/83470782874?pwd=aJXIcXif22utWIlF21mASYdKWa6A3n.1
